Salvus 1/2" threaded 90 degree angled gas bayonet socket.
A bayonet socket gas fitting is
a type of self-sealing connector that allows for the easy and secure attachment of gas appliances, like a gas cooker, to a gas supply. The socket is installed on the wall or floor, and a corresponding bayonet plug on the appliance's hose connects to it via a twist-lock mechanism. This design allows for a simple push-and-twist connection for use, and a push-and-twist-and-pull disconnection, making it easy to disconnect an appliance for cleaning.
How it works
- Socket (female part): This is a spring-loaded valve that is permanently installed in the gas pipe and is a part of the home's gas supply line.
- Plug (male part): This is attached to the flexible hose of the gas appliance and has bayonet-style pins that engage with the socket.
- Connection: When the plug is pushed into the socket and twisted, it locks into place, and the spring-loaded valve opens to allow gas to flow.
- Disconnection: To disconnect, you push the plug into the socket and twist it in the opposite direction, which releases the lock and allows the plug to be pulled out. This action automatically closes the valve, stopping the gas flow.
