Fernox LP Sterox is a highly effective, non-foaming liquid disinfectant used for treating domestic and commercial stored water systems against harmful bacteria, viruses, algae, and biofilm. Its primary active ingredient is a stabilised aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide.
Key Features and Benefits
- Broad Spectrum Activity: Highly effective against waterborne pathogens including Legionella pneumophila and Pseudomonas, as well as general bacteria and algae.
- Biofilm Removal: It penetrates and removes biofilm, a common source of persistent contamination in water systems.
- No Neutralisation Required: After disinfection, there is generally no need to flush out or neutralise the system because the product naturally breaks down into water and oxygen, except in drinking water systems where a flush is recommended to remove dislodged biofilms.
- Ease of Use: It can be easily introduced into the system via a feed and expansion tank or directly into the water storage tank.
- Compatibility: It is safe for use with a variety of materials commonly found in water systems (including plastics and metals) and is compatible with other cooling tower chemicals.

One 1-litre bottle of Fernox LP Sterox is typically sufficient to disinfect a 300-litre system during normal use. For systems that will not be used for 24 hours after application, one bottle can treat up to 400 litres. Test strips are available for monitoring the in-use hydrogen peroxide concentration, which should be around 100 ppm for Legionellacontrol.
