Essex Flange
An Essex flange is a plumbing component used to add extra connections to a hot water cylinder or closed tank. It's a patented connector that allows for the installation of pipes, immersion heaters, or other fittings without needing to access the top of the tank, making it ideal for tight spaces and for making connections from the outside only. This makes it useful for various applications, including adding a connection for a power shower. 
  • Purpose: To create a connection point on a hot water cylinder or tank.
  • Benefit: It can be installed entirely from the outside of the tank by cutting a hole, meaning the tank does not need to be removed.
  • Applications: Connecting pipes (e.g., for a shower), immersion heaters, and other fittings to tanks and boilers.
  • Installation: It's fitted through a hole drilled from one side, simplifying installation in awkward locations.
